(un)Compromising: Hard Hitting

Uncompromising- (un·com·pro·mis·ing)

A.) Unwilling to grant concessions or negotiate; inflexible
B.) Unprepared to give ground or to compromise

Uncompromising…

Standing for what you believe in …..

Does this one word describe your Christianity?
Does this one word describe your focus and complete faith in God?
Does this one word describe your stand against sin?
Does this one word describe your stand on sexual purity?
Does this one word describe how non Christians look at you?

If you answered no to any of the questions that were asked above,
You are compromising…

Already (hopefully) you can see where we are going with this series…

We are going to  discover exactly what Jesus meant when he said,
“If you love me, keep my commands.” -John 14:15

…If you truly love me [Insert Name Here], then stop compromising my commandments which you believed in when you gave your life to me…

So what does compromising really mean anyway?

Compromising (com·pro·mis·ing)

A.) The middle, between two extremes
B.) The settlement of an argument where each side agrees to accept less than first demanded
C.) Vulnerable to danger especially of discredit or suspicion

It’s only fair that I come clean before we talk about compromising…

I compromise the commandments so much…

Just this week alone, I have:

-Fallen for lust and temptations of sexual immorality…
-Lied

Now it would be simple for me to keep this inside and not confess my sins… I know. It would be simple to ignore this, to lie to myself and lie to others! How could I lie to others about this? By shaping these sins to be small and insignificant…

But by doing this, not only am i compromising the Lord’s commandments, but I  would be bearing false witness by hiding that I have not followed the commandments! For the scripture says..

“There are six things that the Lord hates, even seven things that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift to run to evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who spreads discord among family members.”Proverbs 6:16-19

So what am I getting at?

We will never become uncompromising Christians if we hide our sins from not only him, but also others!
This is why church is important! But there is a sad reality  to this though…
Many are scarred to reveal how broken they really are, ESPECIALLY in the one place that they SHOULD be open!

The church needs to be a community that will build you UP from the ashes, not the reverse. In order to become an uncompromising Christian/spiritually strong we must understand this:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:8-10

We must never overlook the importance of confessing our sins and seeking true help! We must destroy this sin in our own lives and sometimes the only way we can do that is by the help of others and the Lord. We must reveal our sin to the light, bring sin to the surface! When we do this… we will then develop spiritual integrity making us more resistant to compromise!

So lets rewind a second…

We have discovered:

1.) It is important to realize we have sinned

2.) It is important to CONFESS the sin to others

3.) Spiritual integrity comes with accountability

The next discovery comes when you take a closer look at that one word again…
You may have noticed that “one word” has been italicized.

Why? Well, this one word is actually two! Take a look:

Uncompromising (First word)

Uncompromising (Second Word)

Uncompromising actually contains the word, promise! What does this mean…?

Promising- (prom·is·ing)

A.) Showing signs of future success; bright

When we are uncompromising,we truly believe the promises of the Lord! The promise that ALL will come if we put our trust and faith in him! ALL WILL COME! There is NO NEED TO SIN! NO NEED TO COMPROMISE!

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” -Jesus Christ

-Matthew 6:33-34

Jesus himself said this! This is a direct quote! You might be tempted into sin or compromise because you seek gratification, love, friends, family, what ever your reason is… But realize, IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY! Jesus PROMISES THAT ALL WILL COME IF YOU FOCUS ON HIM!
All will come!! So that means that we can have it ALL, WITHOUT sin!

Are you:

Anxious?

Scarred?

Stressed?

Turning to drugs to relieve pain?

Turning to porn to mask loneliness?

Having sex to feel love?

Compromising beliefs and morals in order to have friends or gain money?

If you are… then realize…

It doesn’t have to be like this!

Jesus has promised that all will come!

Without sin!

Without Guilt!

Real love, Real freedom, Real Friends, Real Hope, Real Wealth!

It’s sad that we Christians ALREADY know that the Lord will provide, but still we doubt… we get tired of waiting… and we ultimately compromise….

WAKE UP!

THERE IS NO NEED FOR THIS COMPROMISING! In order to become uncompromising we must remember the reality of Jesus’ words:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” -Matthew 6:33-34

If we find the truth of this quote… There is NO WAY that we can not become Uncompromising! There is not even a REASON to compromise!

        So ask yourself,

Does this one word describe me… am I an Uncompromising Christian?

Sadly… I would have to say that this word doesn’t describe me… for i have fallen for Satan’s traps too many times to count

I am unworthy of the lord’s love…

I am humbled…
But I am NOT OUT!

My GOD is faithful! My God is FORGIVING! My God is LOVING!

“The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors… Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” -Deuteronomy 7:7-9

The words of my GOD… OUR GOD are Hard Hitting!

Uncompromising

I pray that this word describes us all…

The excuses are over

Sin has been found out

We are better than sin…

We are better than the lies.

The Lord PROVIDES better then any sin

The Lord truly provides

On his own time….

On his perfect time,

Time that he will share with us

When we are ready to receive.

We must learn to wait for that perfect timing,

instead of compromising

Because I believe…

With a dependence and complete focus in his promises

With the help of our brothers and sisters in Christ

AND The Lord…

We ALL WILL let go of all that’s bringing us down

We ALL WILL find a new peace

We ALL WILL have a new found freedom from sin and slavery

We ALL WILL become

uncompromising…

Memorize Matthew 6:33-34 to use against compromise:

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
-Matthew 6:33-34

“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.” -Hebrews 10:26-27
